Galvanized Hawser Thimbles
Muncy Hawser Thimbles for wire ropeMuncy manufactures its hawser thimbles in the USA using quality material with a time tested design. Our thimbles are castings that are often used wire rope eye and eye sling assemblies. The larger sizes are from 2-1/8" up to 3" wire rope have a "gusset" for the lower half of the thimble for added strength against crushing. The smaller sizes from 5/8" wire rope up to 2" do not have this steel support gusset. The larger size gussets can be removed upon request, depending on the application. Our thimbles come hot dip galvanized.
Newco's time tested design for Hawswer thimbles
Where Newco orignially designed its Hawser thimbles for wire rope, over time these sturdy thimbles have been used for other ropes, including HMPE (high molecular polyethelene ropes and their progeny) and other blended, high strength ropes, especially in marine applications.
Why use a Muncy Hawser thimble?
Hawser thimbles are used when the heavy duty or super duty thimbles will not withstand the application and the integrity of the "eye" in the sling is important, often due to the connection with the assembly, whether it be a specific shackle, connection or link. The Newco, and now Muncy name, goes a long way to defining quality, with end users often specificying and requiriing our product by name.
